Quick Tip: One-to-One Executive Emails for Business Reviews
Templates to send to an executive before and after executive business reviews to keep them engaged.
As we mentioned during our episode on business reviews, sending a one-to-one note to the executive before and after the business review is one of the best ways to:
Increase their likelihood of attendance
Establish a direct relationship
Drive action on key action items
How to leverage these templates
Ahead of the business review
Send a quick note to the executive sponsor who you’d like to attend, highlighting some key notes they should know about and ask for them to confirm their attendance.
You should send these two business days before the executive business review so they can review your email.
Will they always reply? No. The purpose of this email is not a direct response; it’s to showcase that their attendance is important and that you’re prepared to make the conversation worth their time.
After the business review
Send this as a follow-up to the recap you sent to the whole group, adjusting the recipients only to be the executive and shifting the subject line so it’s clear you’ve personalized it to them.
Recap Subject: “Recap: Business Review - ACME <> [Your Company]”
One-to-one Subject: “Next Steps - [Exec First Name] <> [Your Company]”
When sending these, you should also call out the key action items relevant to them; for example, if there are multiple executives, ensure you personalize what you call out to what is relevant to their specific goals and KPIs.
The templates
Below are the templates I’ve used for these emails over my 5+ years in customer success. Sending these has helped me increase executive show rate for business reviews and improve my relationships with executives following the business review.
